Men’s traditional fashion – not just for Oktoberfest

Traditional fashion is traditional, historical clothing that belongs to a certain region, country or ethnic group. It has a long history behind it and usually develops over the years. Traditional fashion has its peculiarities, distinctive features and customs that only apply to the place or region. German traditional fashion is usually equated with Bavaria: i.e. Lederhosen for the man and Dirndl for the lady. Once worn everyday, traditional fashion is now only brought out at processions, in clubs and on special occasions, but also family parties, weddings and, of course, at Oktoberfest. Traditional fashion in tall sizes has now become cult. The fashion industry spotted this early on and launched traditional fashion: different shirt patterns, materials and pants with new, fashionable approaches. There is obviously much more scope for variety in the “Dirndl” for women.

Traditional shirts, lederhosen, socks – true Bavarian style

Traditional shirts, traditional Alpine jackets, socks and lederhosen are no longer just a must for the Munch Oktoberfest. There are a few traditional festivals in Bavaria and other areas where traditional fashion can be worn. Traditional fashion has even caught on abroad, where it attracts admiration and cult status. Lederhosen in tall sizes are the most commonly worn and most popular garment in men’s traditional fashion. Nowadays, traditional fashion goes even further. Men who wear big and talls can choose a traditional shirt, checked shirt or traditional polo shirt. Perfect, full traditional fashion for the top half includes a traditional gilet, a traditional vest, a traditional jacket, cardigan or knitted Alpine jacket. Just as traditional socks, e.g. in the Loferl set, plus traditional shoes or boots – and the bottom half is kitted out too. The lederhosen outfit is complete.

Traditional Bavarian fashion is a regional favourite. Traditional horn buttons, unique and intricate details like embroidery, and high-quality materials are typical of traditional fashion in tall sizes. Look forward to the next festival or the “Wiesn” (Oktoberfest)!
